KFC Out-Doors: proof beats promises

KFC removed its doors to prove it never closes.

The hook: Every restaurant says it is open late. KFC removed its doors to show it.

The campaign

In January 2025, KFC in the UAE and the agency TBWA\RAAD announced round-the-clock service. Instead of a banner saying "open 24/7", KFC took the doors off its restaurants and turned each one into an outdoor installation.

The doors appeared at busy intersections and other popular places across the city, carrying lines such as "Who needs doors when you never close?" Each carried a QR code that gave directions to the nearest KFC open at that hour. One trade report adds that the code could also be redeemed for a free product at a participating 24/7 restaurant.

Why it worked

  1. It proved the claim. A door you cannot close is a memorable way to say you never close.
  2. A feature became the story. "Open 24/7" is a service detail. A restaurant with no doors is news.
  3. The medium did the work. The door was both the stunt and the billboard, so the message sat where the customer was.
  4. It linked attention to action. The QR code turned curiosity into a visit.

The result

No measured results have been published. Coverage describes the campaign's aims as starting conversations and driving visits, and the stunt was widely picked up by marketing and design publications. It is a useful reminder that a strong idea can earn attention even before the numbers are public.

How a Kerala business can use this

  • Make your hours visible. A clinic with emergency cover or a pharmacy open late can put a bold "always open" sign outside with a QR code to directions.
  • Keep your Google listing correct. The stunt only works if the map shows the right hours.
  • Pick one claim and prove it. If you promise a 60-minute response, show a live timer. If you promise fresh food, show the kitchen.
